What is AHD?

AHD is a newly developed solution for transmitting full HD digital video in a surveillance system. The core concept of AHD is to deliver high definition video using digital TV (DTV) transmission. With AHD, high definition digital video can be transmitted easily over coaxial cables, twisted pairs, or simply over the air. Multiple 1080p30 and 1080p60 video streams can be easily transmitted using AHD over a single 5C2V/RG6 cable up to a length of 1000 meters without any repeater ( Up to 500 meters in case of 3C2V/RG59 ).

In the world of analog TV, The composite video baseband signal (CVBS) is the most commonly used signal format. Its popularity, ease of use, and robustness have made it an integral part of our lives. CVBS is in fact a de facto signal standard for analog video surveillance systems. As we bid farewell to analog TV with worldwide analog switch-off (ASO) and move on to the age of digital TV, digital technologies, such as DVB-T, ISDB-T, and ATSC, became popular and indispensable much like CVBS in the analog age. AHD leverages the extremely robust AV transmission capability of DTV to easily and seamlessly upgrade an analog cctv surveillance system to digital full HD. It is expected AHD to become a de facto standard for digital video surveillance systems in the future.

The camera has a built-in mechanical IR-cut filter placed in front of the image sensor to filter out infrared light in the daytime, producing better color reproduction. At nighttime or when the built-in light sensor detects low-light conditions, IR-cut filter is automatically removed to achieve better light sensitivity.

What is an IR Cut Filter?

An Automatic IR Mechanical Cut Filter blocks infrared light but allows colors visible to the naked eye to pass through. During low/no light conditions, the IR Cut Filter moves away from the lens to let in100% of the infrared light for maximum night vision performance. This results in the camera image changing to Black and White for better image quality.

NOTE: Not all Day/Night Cameras have an Auto IR Cut filter.

AHD features:

High image quality at the resolution of 720p/960p

The technology uses a progressive scan while forming a signal and divis on of brightness and color components of an analog signal: that allows eliminating a blur and blinking, improving a color reproduction.

How to choose Lens? OPERATION USED NOTE

1. 720P/960P/1080P AHD Camera must be work with AHD DVR, then will be work normal; But the AHD camera must be connected to match AHD DVR , otherwise, it still can’t work properly, Please check the table below:

2. What’s the difference between AHD camera and the traditional analog camera?

Similarities:They are transmission through coaxial cable;

Difference: AHD camera is digital signal transmission, direct connection monitor didn’t image output;

Traditional analog cameras is analog signal transmission, directly connects the monitor has image output.
